SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Elizabeth A. "Liz" Leonard of
4Springfield, who passed away on December 31, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Liz Leonard was born in Highland Park to Claude
6Pierce and Elinor Virginia Zimmer Brown on July 24, 1953; she
7graduated from Highland Park High School in 1971 and from
8Illinois State University in Normal; she married Ken Leonard in
9Highland Park on July 30, 1977; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Liz Leonard taught in School District 186 in
11Springfield for over 27 years; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Liz Leonard was a beloved wife, mother, and
13grandma; she was devoted to her family and spent most of her
14time at sporting events for her children and grandchildren; she
15was a member of the Springfield Bible Church and a Fellowship
16of Christian Athletes Huddle Leader for over 20 years; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Liz Leonard was preceded in death by her parents
18and her son, Philip Pearson; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Liz Leonard is survived by her husband, Ken; her
20children, Derek (Lindsey) and Bradley (Becky) Leonard; her

1grandchildren, Savannah Williams and J.P., Blake, Julia, and
2Austin Leonard; her siblings, Barbra Brown, Claudia Brown,
3Dorothy (Glen) Gross, and Claude (Sue) Brown; her aunt, Grace
4Bogart; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and
5great-nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Elizabeth A. "Liz" Leonard, and extend our sincere condolences
9to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be
10it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Liz Leonard as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
