SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Richard "Dick" J. Morrow of Rock Island,
4who passed away on January 18, 2017 at the age of 87; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Richard Morrow was born in Wall Lake, Iowa to
6James Archibald and Emily Stewart Patterson Morrow on September
73, 1929; he graduated from Keosauqua High School and Iowa State
8College with a degree in agricultural engineering and married
9Carol Ellen McConnell in Argo, Iowa on February 14, 1959; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Richard Morrow was a veteran of the United States
11Air Force and served during the Korean Conflict; he would go on
12to become a private pilot, build an experimental airplane, and
13later participate in the Honor Flight; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Richard Morrow retired from John Deere in 1984,
15after serving 28 years as a service manager; he was a comedic
16poet and writer; he sang barbershop as a baritone for 35 years
17and also was a member of the barbershop quartet, Generation
18Four; he worked passionately on many restoration projects
19throughout his life, including John Deere equipment and a
20Korean-era military Jeep; he enjoyed gardening and was every
21dog's friend; and

1    WHEREAS, Richard Morrow was preceded in death by his
2parents, and his siblings, Robert and Ethel; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Richard Morrow is survived by his wife, Carol
4Morrow; his sons, Dale (Kelly) Morrow, Dennis (Angela) Morrow,
5and David (Sue) Morrow; his grandchildren, Abigail Morrow,
6Nathaniel Morrow, Madelyn Morrow, and Natalie Morrow;
7therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Richard "Dick" J. Morrow, and extend our sincere condolences to
11his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Richard Morrow as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
