SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Pearl "Sweetie" Bell, who passed away on
4December 15, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Pearl Bell was born in Montgomery, Alabama to
6Estelle Sankey on October 20, 1930; she attended Booker T.
7Washington High School; she moved to Chicago in the early 1950s
8and married Emanuel Bell; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Pearl Bell worked at the Reed Candy Company and
10Burlington Coat Factory before becoming a full time caretaker
11for her granddaughter, "lil angel, Kelli"; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Pearl Bell joined Pleasant Green Missionary
13Baptist Church in 1976 and was an active and well-loved member
14on the Ushers Board for many years; she loved her family and
15was an active leader of the Sankey Family Club, which planned
16family reunions, picnics, parties, and other events; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Pearl Bell was preceded in death by her mother,
18Estelle Sankey; her sister, Charlie Mae Robinson; and her
19grandson, Darrin Bell; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Pearl Bell is survived by her husband of 65 years,

1Emanuel; her sons, Cornell, Jerome (Veronica), and Roderick
2(Denise); her daughter, Elaine (Daniel); her grandchildren,
3Cornell Jr., Craig (Miown), Corey, Rodderick, Marcus, Sean,
4Derrick, and Kelli; her great-grandchildren, Jalisa, Janiya,
5Derrick Jr., Curon, and Darrious; her nieces, Aquanetta
6(Willie) Street, Gwen (Mike) Pruitt, Kimberly Chillous, Tracey
7Bell, LaToya Bell, and Rita (Merrill) Chandler; her nephews,
8Horace (Lill) Burton, Anthony (Carolyn) Burton, Steven
9Chillous, and Ronald (Yonnie) Anderson; her brother, James Earl
10(Jackie) Chillous; her special uncle, James (Desiree) Sankey;
11her in-laws, Edmonia Covington and Harvey and Clettus "CR"
12Bell; and many friends, other relatives, and her Pleasant Green
13church family; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Pearl "Sweetie" Bell, and extend our sincere condolences to her
17family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
18further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Pearl Bell as an expression of our
21deepest sympathy.
