SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Frank G. Slocumb of Naperville, who
4passed away on January 9, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Frank Slocumb was born to Frank G. Sr. and
6Marguerite L. Slocumb on July 9, 1945; he attended Oak
7Park-River Forest High School and graduated from Loyola
8University of Chicago in 1968; he was commissioned in the
9United States Army and was based at Ft. Meade in Maryland,
10serving 27 months on active duty as a 1st Lieutenant and
11receiving an honorable discharge as Captain; he received his
12Master of Business Arts from Northwestern University and
13married Mary Kay in 1972; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Frank Slocumb was hired by BMO Harris Bank in 1972
15and retired as a District Executive after 36 years; he also
16served as President of the Harris Bank of Naperville; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Frank Slocumb was active with many
18community-based organizations; his leadership roles included
19past board member and chairman of the trustees of Edward
20Hospital, board of directors and past chair of the Naperville
21Development Partnership, advisory board for the Colbeth Clinic
22at the University of Illinois Medical Center, board member and

1past president of the Rotary Club of Naperville, board member
2of St. Patrick's Residence in Naperville, board member of the
3Millennium Carillon Foundation of Naperville, founding board
4member of the Naperville Parks Foundation, board member of the
5Edward Foundation, and board member of the Wheaton Bank and
6Trust Company; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Frank Slocumb was an active fund raiser for
8numerous organizations, including the Naperville United Way,
9the Heritage YMCA, the Boy Scouts of America, and St. Raphael
10Church Capital Campaigns; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Frank Slocumb was honored with many awards and
12recognitions, including the inaugural Community Leadership
13Award from BMO Harris Bank, the United Way of Metro Chicago
14Volunteer of the Year, the Croagh Patrick Award, the Kid's Best
15Friend Award from the Education Center, the Lifetime
16Achievement Award from the Naperville area Chamber of Commerce,
17the Distinguished Citizen's Award from the Boy Scouts of
18America, and the Art Davis Leadership Award and the Lifetime
19Achievement Award and from the Rotary Club of Naperville; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Frank Slocumb was an avid sports fan; he enjoyed
21attending the theater and the Chicago Symphony and spending
22time at his condo in downtown Chicago; most of all, he enjoyed
23traveling around the world with his wife and playing golf with

1his son; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Frank Slocumb was preceded in death by his
3parents; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Frank Slocumb is survived by his wife of 45 years,
5Mary Kay; his son, Jack; his sisters, Marguerite (Michael)
6Seymour and Catherine Slocumb; his brothers-in-law, Gerald
7(Natalie) and Charles (Leslie) Hilbrich; and numerous nieces
8and nephews; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Frank G. Slocumb, and extend our sincere condolences to his
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Frank Slocumb as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
