SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the Illinois Senate pays
3honor and respect to the truly great individuals who have
4served our country and, in doing so, have gone above and beyond
5the call of duty in truly heroic acts; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Jeffrey Allen Williams was born in Kansas City,
7Missouri to Sandra Smith on February 23, 1985; he graduated
8from Wheaton Warrenville South High School in 2003; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Jeffrey Williams joined the United States Army
10after high school, achieving the rank of Corporal; he was
11deployed to Iraq in February of 2005 where he valiantly served
12as an Army Medic in Operation Iraqi Freedom; and
 
13    WHEREAS, For his heroism, Jeffrey Williams was awarded the
14Bronze Star Medal, the Purple Heart, the Army Commendation
15Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism
16Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Army
17Service Ribbon, and the Combat Medic Badge; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Jeffrey Williams was killed in action while
19serving his country on September 5, 2005 in Iraq; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Jeffery Williams had a deep connection to the

1Warrenville Post Office due to running errands to help his
2mother and, in doing so, he befriended many of the employees;
3and
 
4    WHEREAS, Jeffrey Williams' service to our nation deserves
5recognition; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we urge the U.S. Postal
8Service to rename the Warrenville Post Office in honor of
9Jeffrey Allen Williams to honor his heroic service to our
10nation; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
12delivered to Postmaster General of the United States Megan J.
13Brennan, President Donald Trump, U.S. Senate Majority Leader
14Mitch McConnell, U.S. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer,
15U.S. Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, U.S. House of
16Representatives Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, and all members
17of the Illinois Congressional Delegation.
