SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Merle A. "Woody" Wood of Elgin, who passed away on December 20, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Merle Wood was born in Elgin to Felix and Elma (Nesler) Wood on April 14, 1944; he graduated from Elgin High School in 1962 and served in the United States Army; and

WHEREAS, Merle Wood owned and operated Custom Tile in Bartlett for many years; and

WHEREAS, Merle Wood was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Joanne Wood; and

WHEREAS, Merle Wood is survived by his wife, Pamela; his children, Mary Elliot and Matt (Tracy) Wood; his grandchildren, Lucas, Katie, Heidi, Grace, and Hope; and numerous family and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Merle A. "Woody" Wood, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Merle Wood as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
