SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Daniel Lewis Winans of Hume, who passed
4away on December 13, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Daniel Winans was born in Paris, Illinois to Dean
6and Martha (Light) Winans on November 29, 1948; he earned his
7bachelor's degree in agriculture from Southern Illinois
8University, where he was a charter member of the Beta Alpha
9chapter of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity; he married Wanda Good in
10Chrisman on June 28, 1970; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Daniel Winans was devoted to farming and a
12enthusiastic supporter of 4-H throughout his life, serving as a
134-H leader and a past council and association member; in 2010,
14he was honored by the 4-H Foundation by being inducted into the
15Illinois 4-H Foundation Hall of Fame; he served on the boards
16of directors of Illini FS, the Illinois Soybean Checkoff Board,
17and the former Edgar County Children's Home; he was a longtime
18member of the Chrisman Lions Club and Jaycees; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Daniel Winans was elected to four terms on the
20Edgar County Board, including one term as chairman; he also
21served on the board of directors of the Edgar County Farm
22Bureau for a number of years, including several years as

1president; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Daniel Winans was an active member of the Chrisman
3United Methodist Church for many years, serving on the
4administrative board and as chairman of the trustees; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Daniel Winans was preceded in death by his
6parents; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Daniel Winans is survived by his wife, Wanda; his
8children, Rebecca (Randy) Switzer and Mark (Holly) Winans; his
9brothers, Tom (Shirley) Winans and Gary (Edna) Winans; his
10grandchildren, Gabriel and Lillian Winans; his brothers-in-law
11and sisters-in-law, Dallas Good, Dale and Ann Good, Lynn Good,
12Maggie Biggs, and Lila and Gene Bland; and nine nieces and
13nephews; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Daniel Lewis Winans, and extend our sincere condolences to his
17family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
18further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Daniel Winans as an expression of
21our deepest sympathy.
