SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Allen Frederick Bennett, who passed away
4on Wednesday, November 29, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Allen Frederick Bennett was born to the late Leo
6and Donna Bennett on August 29, 1943 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois;
7and
 
8    WHEREAS, Allen Frederick Bennett earned a bachelor's
9degree in business commerce from the University of Illinois in
101965; he graduated law school from the University of Tennessee
11and received his Juris Doctor in 1967; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Allen Frederick Bennett began his distinguished
13public service career in 1968, when he was elected State's
14Attorney of Moultrie County, Illinois; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Allen Frederick Bennett, shortly thereafter,
16served as the Public Defender of Macon County before his
17election as State Representative from Decatur in 1976; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Allen Frederick Bennett also served as an
19Assistant Attorney General and later as a lobbyist for the
20Fraternal Order of Police, Trooper's Lodge #41 and Illinois

1Fraternal Order of Police, State Lodge; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Allen Frederick Bennett served the people of
3Illinois by being one of the few to serve in all three branches
4of Illinois Government: The General Assembly, Executive, and
5Judiciary; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Allen Frederick Bennet practiced law privately in
7Sullivan, Decatur, Springfield, and Shelbyville before being
8elected Resident Circuit Judge of Shelby County, 4th Judicial
9Circuit in 2012; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Allen Frederick Bennett was preceded in death by
11his parents, Leo and Donna Bennett; and his sister, Suzie
12Rudin; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Allen Frederick Bennett is survived by his wife,
14Tina Bennett; his children, Tammera McClendon, Allen Bennett
15II, and Trina Bedlington; his sisters, Katie (Byron) Cartwright
16and Sally (James) Hooten; his eight grandchildren; his four
17great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews;
18therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
20ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
21Allen Frederick Bennett and extend our sincere condolences to

3    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4presented to the family of Allen Frederick Bennett as an
