1 SENATE RESOLUTION

2     WHEREAS, The State of Illinois has become a major center
3 for energy production and storage in the United States; and

4     WHEREAS, Illinois stores the second highest amount of
5 natural gas in the United States; and

6     WHEREAS, The Department of Natural Resources regulates the
7 oil and gas operations in the State; and

8     WHEREAS, The safety of Illinois residents is a priority for
9 the Department of Natural Resources when developing new
10 regulations; therefore, be it

11     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
12 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that the Department of
13 Natural Resources shall compile a report reviewing the current
14 regulations for oil and gas pipelines in Illinois and make
15 recommendations for changes of those regulations to improve
16 public safety; and be it further

17     RESOLVED, That the report shall include a review of the
18 regulations applicable to both oil and gas extraction, as well
19 as underground gas storage; and be it further

1     RESOLVED, That this report shall be sent to the Senate
2 President and Senate Minority Leader, the Speaker of the House
3 and House Minority Leader, and the Office of the Governor, no
4 later than December 31, 2018.
