SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of James Lawrence "Jim" Mateja of Lindenhurst, who passed away on January 30, 2017 at the age of 71; and

WHEREAS, James Mateja married Susan L. Jeschke in Grayslake on August 14, 1965; and

WHEREAS, James Mateja was the founder and past President of the Midwest Automotive Media Association; he wrote two books in which he was the sole author, and one which he co-authored; and

WHEREAS, James Mateja was a longtime parishioner of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Wadsworth; he had a deep love for his family; and

WHEREAS, James Mateja was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary (Mesec) Mateja; his son-in-law, Christopher Winiewicz; and his grandchildren, Peyton Mateja, and Haylie Winiewicz; and

WHEREAS, James Mateja is survived by his wife of 51 years, Susan "The Bottle Blonde"; his "#1 Son", Brad (Lori) Mateja; his twin daughters, "Twin #1" Gina Winiewicz, and "Twin #2" Dana (Adam) Slotkus; "Daughter #3", Aimee (Todd) Geiger-Wight; his brothers, Gerald (Louanne) Mateja, and Phillip (Judith) Mateja; his sister-in-law, Beverly (David) Allen; his grandchildren, Jac Mateja, Ashley Winiewicz, and Taylor Slotkus; and his nieces and nephews, Marilyn Drennan, Rick Mateja, Karen Kraus, Scott Mateja, Cheryl Mateja, Jeffrey Mateja, Kerri Allen, Courtney Allen, Todd Washburn, and Stacey Beshel; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of James Lawrence "Jim" Mateja, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of James Mateja as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
