SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Hugo "Nick" Oster of Crystal Lake, who passed away on February 3, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Nick Oster was born in Chicago to Frank and Catharina (Angele) Oster of May 11, 1931; he grew up playing sports at the YMCA; he attended University of Illinois at Navy Pier; he joined the National Guard and served in the United States Army in Germany during the Korean War; after an honorable release from active duty, he continued to serve in the National Guard; and

WHEREAS, Nick Oster was an accredited electrician; he was a facilities manager for Cotter & company in Chicago, and then in Harvard for 30 years; and

WHEREAS, Nick Oster was a 55-year member of the Illinois Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 134; he was an avid tennis player and golfer and one of the original members of the Wilde Bunch at MCC Fitness Center; he enjoyed gardening and automobile and home maintenance; and

WHEREAS, Nick Oster was preceded in death by his parents and his sister-in-law, Geraldine; and

WHEREAS, Nick Oster is survived by his wife, Gretchen; his children, Laura and Victoria; his grandchildren, Rachel and Patrick; his brother, John; and his many cousins, nieces, and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Hugo "Nick" Oster and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Nick Oster as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
