SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Hugo "Nick" Oster of Crystal Lake, who
4passed away on February 3, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Nick Oster was born in Chicago to Frank and
6Catharina (Angele) Oster of May 11, 1931; he grew up playing
7sports at the YMCA; he attended University of Illinois at Navy
8Pier; he joined the National Guard and served in the United
9States Army in Germany during the Korean War; after an
10honorable release from active duty, he continued to serve in
11the National Guard; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Nick Oster was an accredited electrician; he was a
13facilities manager for Cotter & company in Chicago, and then in
14Harvard for 30 years; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Nick Oster was a 55-year member of the Illinois
16Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 134; he was an avid
17tennis player and golfer and one of the original members of the
18Wilde Bunch at MCC Fitness Center; he enjoyed gardening and
19automobile and home maintenance; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Nick Oster was preceded in death by his parents
21and his sister-in-law, Geraldine; and

1    WHEREAS, Nick Oster is survived by his wife, Gretchen; his
2children, Laura and Victoria; his grandchildren, Rachel and
3Patrick; his brother, John; and his many cousins, nieces, and
4nephews; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Hugo "Nick" Oster and extend our sincere condolences to his
8family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Nick Oster as an expression of our
12deepest sympathy.
