SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Magdalen "Madge" Orth-Cerar of Carlinville, who passed away on February 10, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Madge Orth-Cerar was born in Bushton, Kansas to Henry and Margaret (Finnin) Orth on February 24, 1918; she graduated from Bushton High School and received her nursing degree from St. John's Hospital School of Nursing in Salina, Kansas; she married David Cerar at the Little Chapel in the Woods on the Norfolk, Virginia Navel Air Station on November 10, 1943; and

WHEREAS, Madge Orth-Cerar was the Director of Nursing at the old Macoupin County Nursing Home and a supervising nurse at the Carlinville Clinic and the old Carlinville Area Hospital; along with her husband, she owned and operated the Cerar Mink Ranch and the Carlin-Villa Motel; she was also the administrator for Lakeview Nursing Home; and

WHEREAS, Madge Orth-Cerar was a member of Saints Mary and Joseph Catholic Church; and

WHEREAS, Madge Orth-Cerar was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dave; her daughter, Jo-Dee; her brothers, John and Felix; and her sisters, Josephine, Nancy, Mary, Kathryn, and Louise; and

WHEREAS, Madge Orth-Cerar is survived by her son, Jon (Teri) Cerar; her daughter, Kathryn Cerar; and her grandsons, Josh and Dalton Cerar; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Magdalen "Madge" Orth-Cerar and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Madge Orth-Cerar as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
