| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Russell L. Hartwick, formerly of | 4 | | Andalusia, who passed away on March 18, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Russell Hartwick was born in Lucan, Minnesota to | 6 | | Everett and Hattie (Dagner) Hartwick on July 9, 1930; at the | 7 | | age of 18, he became a teacher in a rural, one-room schoolhouse | 8 | | for grades one through eight; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, After teaching for four years, he enlisted in the | 10 | | United States Air Force as a communications specialist; his | 11 | | service included 13 months stationed at Thule Air Force Base in | 12 | | Thule, Greenland during the Korean War; after serving his | 13 | | country for four years, he attended the University of | 14 | | Wisconsin, Milwaukee, where he received his degree in | 15 | | accounting; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, While attending the University of Wisconsin, | 17 | | Milwaukee, Russell Hartwick worked for a division of General | 18 | | Motors, where he helped make missile guidance systems; while | 19 | | there, he met LaRayne Crandall, who later became his wife; | 20 | | after working for Wisconsin and the federal government, he | 21 | | started his own accounting firm and retired as a certified | 22 | | public accountant after 34 years; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Russell Hartwick was preceded in death by his | 2 | | parents and his brother and sister-in-law, LaVerne and Barbara | 3 | | Hartwick; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Russell Hartwick is survived by his wife, LaRayne; | 5 | | his sons, Jeff (Betty) and Bob (Emily); his grandchildren, | 6 | | Brad, Sara, Olivia, Kyle, Tristan, James, Lauren, Abigail, | 7 | | Seth, Lillian, and Teresa; and his great-granddaughter, | 8 | | Maddison; therefore, be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 10 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 11 | | Russell L. Hartwick and extend our sincere condolences to his | 12 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 13 | | further
| 14 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 15 | | presented to the family of Russell Hartwick as an expression of | 16 | | our deepest sympathy.
