SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of James W. "Jim" Gulliford Jr. of Forrest,
4who passed away on April 6, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jim Gulliford was born in Fairbury to James W. Sr.
6and Delpha Mae (Davis) Gulliford; he was educated in the
7Forrest schools; he married Joyce Doyle in Ivesdale on October
812, 1963; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Jim Gulliford worked for Honegger Farms for eight
10years; he then went to work for Nichols Homeshield (Quanex) in
11Chatsworth, where he worked his way up to Vice President of
12Building Products before retiring in 2004; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Jim Gulliford was the Village of Forrest
14President, a position he held for the last ten years; he was a
15visionary for the town, and his latest project transitioned the
16Village offices, as well as voting and all activities for
17senior citizens, to the former St. James Mission for easier
18accessibility; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Jim Gulliford served on the Board of Directors for
20Futures Unlimited in Pontiac, the Foundation Board at Gibson
21Area Hospital, and the Livingston County Economic Development

1Committee Board; he was a member of the Forrest Lions Club; he
2also served as the treasurer for the Forrest Historical Society
3and was instrumental in the restoration of the Hampsher Hotel
4and the Wabash Train Depot; he was a member of St. Andrew's
5Catholic Parish; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Jim Gulliford enjoyed golfing, especially with
7his father, sons, grandchildren, and his Wednesday morning
8group at Wolf Creek; he went to Arizona every year for the
9White Sox's spring training; he was interested in old
10jukeboxes, records from the 1950s and 1960s, and antique cars;
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, Jim Gulliford was preceded in death by his
13parents; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Jim Gulliford is survived by his wife, Joyce; his
15children, Brad (Gail) Gulliford, Leslie (Pete Victoria)
16Gulliford, and Scott (Amy) Gulliford; his grandchildren,
17Derrick, Mitchell, Natalie, Nick, and Grace Gulliford; and his
18sisters, Jacque (Bob) Schrock and Debbie (Ron "Tiss")
19Steidinger; therefore, be it
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
21ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
22James W. "Jim" Gulliford Jr. and extend our sincere condolences

1to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
2it further
 
3    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4presented to the family of Jim Gulliford as an expression of
5our deepest sympathy.
