SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of James W. "Jim" Gulliford Jr. of Forrest, who passed away on April 6, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Jim Gulliford was born in Fairbury to James W. Sr. and Delpha Mae (Davis) Gulliford; he was educated in the Forrest schools; he married Joyce Doyle in Ivesdale on October 12, 1963; and

WHEREAS, Jim Gulliford worked for Honegger Farms for eight years; he then went to work for Nichols Homeshield (Quanex) in Chatsworth, where he worked his way up to Vice President of Building Products before retiring in 2004; and

WHEREAS, Jim Gulliford was the Village of Forrest President, a position he held for the last ten years; he was a visionary for the town, and his latest project transitioned the Village offices, as well as voting and all activities for senior citizens, to the former St. James Mission for easier accessibility; and

WHEREAS, Jim Gulliford served on the Board of Directors for Futures Unlimited in Pontiac, the Foundation Board at Gibson Area Hospital, and the Livingston County Economic Development Committee Board; he was a member of the Forrest Lions Club; he also served as the treasurer for the Forrest Historical Society and was instrumental in the restoration of the Hampsher Hotel and the Wabash Train Depot; he was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Parish; and

WHEREAS, Jim Gulliford enjoyed golfing, especially with his father, sons, grandchildren, and his Wednesday morning group at Wolf Creek; he went to Arizona every year for the White Sox's spring training; he was interested in old jukeboxes, records from the 1950s and 1960s, and antique cars; and

WHEREAS, Jim Gulliford was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Jim Gulliford is survived by his wife, Joyce; his children, Brad (Gail) Gulliford, Leslie (Pete Victoria) Gulliford, and Scott (Amy) Gulliford; his grandchildren, Derrick, Mitchell, Natalie, Nick, and Grace Gulliford; and his sisters, Jacque (Bob) Schrock and Debbie (Ron "Tiss") Steidinger; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of James W. "Jim" Gulliford Jr. and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jim Gulliford as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
