SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Lawrence Eugene "Larry" Bertino of Laguna
4Hills, California, who passed away on April 26, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Larry Bertino was born to Peter and Jennie
6(Vernizzi) Bertino on February 21, 1932; the eighth of ten
7children, he was raised in Channahon until, at age 14, he left
8home to join the Monastery at Mt. Carmel in Niagara Falls,
9Ontario, Canada; in 1952, he left the monastery and joined the
10United States Air Force and served as a linguist during the
11Korean War; he then attended UCLA and earned degrees in
12engineering and Slavic languages; he also attended Loyola
13University in Los Angeles and earned his law degree; he married
14Ruth Marie Tucker in 1981, and they settled in Laguna Hills,
15California; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Larry Bertino began his career at McDonald Douglas
17Aerospace, where he sold aircraft around the world; for a time,
18he practiced law at his own firm and with the firm of Rutan and
19Tucker in Newport Beach, California; he eventually returned to
20McDonald Douglas, where he worked until his retirement; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Larry Bertino and his wife were actively involved
22in the Laguna Hills Cityhood Committee; he was also on the

1Orange County Grand Jury and was a long-standing member of The
2Supervisory Committee for NuVision Federal Credit Union; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Larry Bertino enjoyed traveling the world with his
4wife; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Larry Bertino was preceded in death by his
6granddaughter, Brittany Leigh Booth; and his siblings, Edith
7Victoria, George Peter, Robert Michael, Margaret, Elizabeth
8Ann, Thomas Joseph, and Joseph Charles; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Larry Bertino is survived by his wife, Ruth; his
10daughters, Laurell Cecile Bertino and Deborah Helene (Bertino)
11Allee; his six grandchildren; his great granddaughter; his
12brother, Raymond John; his sister, Mary Ann Crater; and his
13many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Lawrence Eugene "Larry" Bertino and extend our sincere
17condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
18him; and be it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Larry Bertino as an expression of
21our deepest sympathy.
