SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Joyce E. Fisher of Wonder Lake, who
4passed away on April 6, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Joyce Fisher was born in Chicago to Allen J. and
6Inez R. (Samppala) Schimke on February 13, 1942; her family
7moved to Wonder Lake in 1947, and she graduated from McHenry
8High School in 1959; she attended Northern Illinois University
9from 1959 to 1960 and graduated from the Art Institute of
10Chicago with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1963; she married
11Edward Michael Fisher in 1966, and they resided in Germany from
121968 to 1969 while he was stationed there; and
 
13    WHEREAS, In 1974, Joyce Fisher opened an antique shop, The
14Peasant Patch in Ridgefield; she moved to Woodstock in 1976 and
15started a decorative quilted pillow business also called The
16Peasant Patch; in 1989, she started work at the Pioneer Center
17of McHenry County as a case manager for adults with
18developmental disabilities; she joined Options & Advocacy for
19McHenry County in 2002, where she worked until her retirement
20in December of 2017; and
 
21    WHEREAS, While in Woodstock, Joyce Fisher attended the
22Woodstock Congregational Unitarian Universalist Church, and

1she often donated her sewing skills to school plays, dance
2recitals, and community theater performances; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Joyce Fisher exhibited at regional and national
4gift and craft shows, including Lambs Farm Craft Fair and Fair
5Diddley on the historic Woodstock Square; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Joyce Fisher loved cats and enjoyed games,
7interior decorating, the theater, classical music, gardening,
8travel, antiquing, the fine arts, and cooking; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Joyce Fisher was preceded in death by her parents;
10her former husband, Edward; her granddaughter, Charlotte
11Salnave; and her great-nephew, Lennox Broderick; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Joyce Fisher is survived by her daughter, Johanna
13Fisher (Erick Salnave); her sister, Janet (Mitchell) Ringer;
14her brother, Phil (Penni) Schimke; her cousin-in-law, Leonard
15(Anita) Fisher; her nieces and nephews, Courtney (Stephen)
16Doninger, Cara (Patrick) Broderick, Corinne (Greg) Regnier,
17Calene (Ken) Kieffer, Nathaniel Ringer, Bartholomew Ringer,
18Carin (Dave) Marney, Allison Steurtze, Sharon Alexander,
19Heather (Ted) Tamburo, and Hali (Jason) Larson-Blair; and many
20great-nieces and great-nephews; therefore, be it
 
21    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL

1ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
2Joyce E. Fisher, and extend our sincere condolences to her
3family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
4further
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6presented to the family of Joyce Fisher as an expression of our
7deepest sympathy.
