SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Gary Stewart Shae of Indianapolis,
4Indiana, who passed away on May 27, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gary Shae was born in Decatur to Zena Brown and
6Irwin Moldafsky on August 23, 1952 and was raised by his mother
7and his stepfather, Kenneth Shae; Gary attended schools in
8Springfield and earned both his Bachelor of Science and Master
9of Business Administration from the University of Illinois at
10Urbana-Champaign; he married Patricia Donze in Rochester,
11Minnesota on March 7, 1980; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Gary Shae worked at IBM for 22 years as a systems
13engineer, marketing representative, and project manager; he
14traveled extensively, representing IBM on many projects in
15corporations throughout the United States; his career
16continued as a director at Amdocs; he was director of human
17resources and accreditation at the Board of Certified Safety
18Professionals for the last six years; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Gary Shae was formerly a member of the Champaign
20City Council; he was on the board of directors of the Champaign
21County Chamber of Commerce and the Champaign Public Library;

1    WHEREAS, Gary Shae was known for his ability to listen to
2both sides of a discussion, study and evaluate the issue, and
3give his well-reasoned opinion; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Gary Shae is survived by his wife, Patricia; his
5children, Toan Nguyen and Loan Loi; his grandchildren, Justin
6and Jackson; his mother, Zena; his brother and sister-in-law,
7Rick and Kate Shae; his nephew, Benjamin; his niece, Amanda;
8and his sister-in-law, Jean Schoknecht; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Gary Stewart Shae, and extend our sincere condolences to his
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Gary Shae as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
