SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of James Franklin Duke Sr. of East Moline,
4who passed away on November 4, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, James Duke Sr. was born in Moline to Alvin Duke
6and Vivian LaVerne on July 2, 1926; he was a veteran of the
7United States Navy; he married Edna Pore at The New Hope
8Baptist Church in Moline in 1990; and
 
9    WHEREAS, James Duke Sr. worked as a Keyway Supervisor at
10John Deere, Co. and retired after 32 years of service; and
 
11    WHEREAS, James Duke Sr. enjoyed going to the fitness center
12three times a week and cutting the grass at the church; above
13all, he enjoyed spending time with his family; and
 
14    WHEREAS, James Duke Sr. was preceded in death by his
15parents; his brother, Alvin; and his sister, Ruth; and
 
16    WHEREAS, James Duke Sr. is survived by his wife, Edna; his
17sons, James F. Duke Jr. and Darin (Danielle) Duke; his
18daughter, Deborah (Morris) Palmer; his stepsons, Edgar Brown
19and Vincent (Rachel) Brown; his stepdaughters, Celnea (Arturo)
20and Cassandra Brown; and his brothers, Austin Duke and Truman

2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
4James Franklin Duke Sr. and extend our sincere condolences to
5his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
6further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to the family of James Duke Sr. as an expression of
9our deepest sympathy.
