SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Harry M. LaHood of Washington, who passed away on November 2, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Harry LaHood was born in Peoria to Harry M. and Cecilia (Couri) LaHood Sr. on September 8, 1933; he graduated from Woodruff High School in 1951; he then served in the United States Navy during the Korean War; he married Gloria A. Hetherlin in Salem, Massachusetts on August 21, 1955; and

WHEREAS, Harry LaHood became an electrician and retired as a Journeyman after 30 years; he also owned and operated Quick 'n Clean laundromats; and

WHEREAS, Harry LaHood was a member of the IBEW Local #34, the ITOO Society, and the Peoria Sculling Club; he was an early member of the Peoria Cursillo movement; he was an accomplished singer and performed in several productions with Corn Stalk and the Peoria Players Theaters; he enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with his family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Harry LaHood was preceded in death by his sons, Thomas and Harry III; and

WHEREAS, Harry LaHood is survived by his wife, Gloria; his children, Rebecca (Richard) Parks, David (Kelly) LaHood, Joseph (Susan) LaHood, John (Zeina) LaHood BeShara, Stephen LaHood, Daniel (Cindy) LaHood, and Matthew (Lisa) LaHood; his 27 grandchildren; his 11 great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Kathryn (Carl) Williams, "Edward" Amin (Emily) LaHood, Richard (Patricia) LaHood, Mary Ann (Thomas) Penn, and Joy Annette (Mike) Tonsor; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Harry M. LaHood and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Harry LaHood as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
