| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Alice Johnson Webber Long of Urbana, who | 4 | | passed away on November 17, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Alice Long was born in Champaign to Earl and Mary | 6 | | Jeannette Philips Johnson on November 5, 1938; she graduated | 7 | | from Urbana High School in 1956 and from the University of | 8 | | Illinois with a degree in political science; she and her first | 9 | | husband, Craig R. Webber, lived briefly in Texas, California, | 10 | | and Georgia, ultimately settling back in Urbana; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Alice Long was an active member of the First | 12 | | Presbyterian Church of Urbana, where she was an elder, deacon, | 13 | | Stephen Minister, and teacher; she was a 50-plus year member of | 14 | | the P.E.O. Sisterhood; she was a sustaining member of the | 15 | | Junior League and active in her sorority, Gamma Phi Beta; she | 16 | | enjoyed serving the Children's Home and Aid Society, | 17 | | participating in a Bible study group, the Hobby Club, and many | 18 | | other groups and causes that offered support and resources to | 19 | | women and children particularly; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Alice Long loved to travel; she had an eye for | 21 | | creating beautiful living spaces and enjoyed sewing and | 22 | | creating her own clothes; she loved to bake and experiment in |

| 1 | | the kitchen, becoming well known for her chocolate chip | 2 | | cookies; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Alice Long was preceded in death by her parents | 4 | | and her first husband, Craig; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Alice Long is survived by her husband, Joseph | 6 | | Long; her children, Krista Borbely (Tim), Brian Webber, and | 7 | | Karen Webber (Rick Whitesell); six grandchildren; her | 8 | | sister-in-law, Marilyn Webber Thies (Dick); her | 9 | | brother-in-law, Carl Webber (Betty); and numerous nieces, | 10 | | nephews, cousins, and special friends; therefore, be it
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 13 | | Alice Johnson Webber Long and extend our sincere condolences to | 14 | | her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 15 | | further
