SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of William Colonna of Crest Hill, who passed
4away on February 14, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, William Colonna was born in Joliet to Massimo and
6Mary (Caruso) Colonna on May 26, 1929; he graduated from
7Lockport Township High School and served with the United States
8Army during the Korean War; and
 
9    WHEREAS, William Colonna worked as an electrician at US
10Steel Mill, Argonne National Laboratory, and DeFranco
11Electric; he retired from the Illinois Youth Center; and
 
12    WHEREAS, William Colonna was an active member of St. Anne
13Catholic Church in Crest Hill; he was a lifetime member of
14Cantigny VFW Post #367 and a member of the Loyal Order of
15Moose; he was a Trustee of the Senior Citizen Association, and
16Lodge Membership Chair for KSKJ #29; he was a former member and
17Past President of the Chaney-Monge School Board, the St. Anne
18Council, and the St. Anne Credit Union, where he was a former
19member of the Board of Directors; and
 
20    WHEREAS, William Colonna was selected to participate in the
21Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. on September 7, 2016; and

1    WHEREAS, William Colonna was preceded in death by his
2parents and his sisters, Edna (Joseph) Stukel, Susan (Joseph)
3Chaloka, and Muffy (Victor) Tomac; and
 
4    WHEREAS, William Colonna is survived by his wife of 62
5years, Lorraine (Govednik) Colonna; his children, William M.
6Colonna, Sheryl Long, and David J. (Caroline) Colonna; his
7grandchildren, Adam and Matthew Long, Staci (Ryan) Heine, and
8Alexander (McKenzie, fiancee), and Nicholas Colonna; and
9several nieces, nephews, and godchildren; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12William Colonna, and extend our sincere condolences to his
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of William Colonna as an expression of
17our deepest sympathy.
