SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Zelmer "Jim" Turner of McHenry, who passed away on February 6, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Zelmer Turner was born in Verda, Kentucky to Mayo and Maddie (Rapier) Turner on November 21, 1938; he served in the United States Army; and

WHEREAS, Zelmer Turner was a truck driver for Teamsters Union Local 301 for over 35 years; and

WHEREAS, Zelmer Turner was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing at the McHenry Dam; he traveled to Canada where he also enjoyed fishing trips; he loved to play cards, especially pinochle and cribbage; in his younger years, he played softball; and

WHEREAS, Zelmer Turner was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sandra; and his siblings, Rocky Turner, Elizabeth Lewis, Ben Turner, and Carla Youngblood; and

WHEREAS, Zelmer Turner is survived by his children, Donna (Larry) Kenyon, Deb (Rich) Steege, Diana (Jack) Winger, Ronald Turner, and Randy Turner; his grandchildren, Kenneth, Ashley, Bradley, Michael, Hunter, Catie, Eric, Connor, Alyssa, Troy, AJ, and Ian; and his great-grandchildren, Leanna and Timmy; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Zelmer "Jim" Turner, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Zelmer Turner as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
