| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Robert Edward Cook, CAE, who passed away | 4 | | on February 9, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Robert Cook was born in Chicago to Norman and
| 6 | | Mabel Cook in 1925; he graduated from Wheaton College and | 7 | | married Dorothy Jean Prescott in June 1949; they settled in | 8 | | Springfield; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Robert Cook served as the Executive | 10 | | Vice-President of the Illinois Association of Realtors from | 11 | | 1956 to 1984; in 1973, he was the organization's lobbyist and | 12 | | was known as the "Speaker of the Illinois Third House"; in | 13 | | 1985, he co-founded Cook-Witter, Inc.; he was a founding member | 14 | | of the Illinois Society of Association Executives and actively | 15 | | participated in the American Society of Association | 16 | | Executives, where he earned his Certified Association | 17 | | Executive designation and was awarded the Key Person Award; he | 18 | | served on the U.S. Chamber of Commerce "Committee of 100"; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Robert Cook was a member of Cherry Hills Baptist | 20 | | Church, serving on the board of multiple ministries; after | 21 | | retirement, he and Jean moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado to | 22 | | be close to family; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Robert Cook was preceded in death by his daughter, | 2 | | Judith Cook Harrison, and
his grandson, Jason Mosby; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Robert Cook is survived by his wife, Jean; his | 4 | | son, Robin; his daughters, Cindy Nelsen, and Terri Mosby; 11 | 5 | | grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
| 6 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 7 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 8 | | Robert Edward Cook, CAE, and extend our sincere condolences to | 9 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 10 | | further
| 11 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 12 | | presented to the family of Robert Cook as an expression of our | 13 | | deepest sympathy.
