SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Donald E. Rhodes of Crystal Lake, who passed away on February 28, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Donald Rhodes was born in Chicago to Elliott and Elsie (Ungeheuer) Rhodes on October 24, 1933; he was a veteran of the United States Army and married Carol L. Overton in Chicago on May 4, 1957; and

WHEREAS, Donald Rhodes worked at ITW/Shakeproof for 35 years; he was an avid trumpet player, playing for over 60 years; he played in many groups over the years including the Woodstock City Band, John Guerra Band, Vito Buffalo Band, McHenry City Band, MCC Band, Sun City Concert Band, and the Sinful Saints; he also played Taps for many veterans; and

WHEREAS, Donald Rhodes was a member of the American Legion and a longtime member of First Congregational Church in Crystal Lake; he will be greatly missed by his family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Donald Rhodes was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew, Raymond Moore; and

WHEREAS, Donald Rhodes is survived by his wife, Carol; his sons, David (Janice) Rhodes, and Jeffrey (Vicky) Rhodes; his grandchildren, Jessica, Zachary, and Thomas "TJ" Rhodes; his sister, Janet (Bob) Greer; and his nephew, Eddie Moore; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Donald E. Rhodes, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Donald Rhodes as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
