SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Daniel J. Naert of East Moline, who passed away on March 18, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Daniel Naert was born in East Moline to Eugene and Mary Anna Neels Naert on July 12, 1925; he graduated from St. Anne School in 1939 and United Township High School in 1943; he served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II from 1943 to 1945 as a B-17 tail gunner; he graduated from Bradley University in 1949 with a Bachelor of Science; he married Anna Mae Hollembaek at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rock Island on August 25, 1951 and earned his Master of Science in 1952; and

WHEREAS, Daniel Naert retired from Rock Island Arsenal in 1987 after 34 years of service; he also taught for seven years in the following schools: Alleman High School, where he was a member of the first faculty in 1949, United Township High School, Hampton Elementary School, where he served as principal and superintendent, and Ajo High School, Ajo, Arizona; and

WHEREAS, Daniel Naert was a lifetime member of St. Anne Catholic Church in East Moline; and

WHEREAS, Daniel Naert was preceded in death by his wife, Anna; his infant son, Joseph Naert; his parents; his siblings, Elizabeth DeClercq, Frances Long, Charles Naert, Helen Kerschieter, and Ann Marie Naert; and his son-in-law, Jim Kuehnel; and

WHEREAS, Daniel Naert is survived by his children, Roch A. (Julie) Naert, Mary Ann Kuehnel, and Dr. John J. (Kim) Naert; his grandchildren, Amanda (Dan) Miller, Raechel Naert, Roch (Kelsie) Naert, Maria (Tom) Hutchinson, Tom (Katie) Naert, David Naert, Michael Naert, James Naert, and Beth Kuehnel; his great-grandchildren, Brianna, Andrew, Matthew, and Quinn; and his god-granddaughter, Emily; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Daniel J. Naert, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Daniel Naert as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
