SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Edward M. Jekot M.D., who passed away on
4February 18, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. Jekot was born in Chicago to Michael and Mary
6Jekot on April 8, 1928; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Dr. Jekot was a veteran of the United States Army,
8assigned to APO 729 in Shemya, Alaska; he graduated from St.
9Mel High School, from Loyola University with a Bachelor of
10Science, and from the University of Illinois Medical School;
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, Dr. Jekot was a general practitioner and later a
13family medicine specialist on staff at St. Joseph Hospital in
14Chicago for over 50 years; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Dr. Jekot was preceded in death by his beloved
16wife, Patricia Anne; his parents; and his brothers, Stanley and
17Chester; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Dr. Jekot was the cherished father of Michael, CFD
19Ret. (Honorable Laura M. Murphy), Mary Haak, Edward, Joseph,
20Elizabeth (David Miller D.D.S.) Jekot M.D., Rosanne (Jim

1Cameron) Jekot, and Eileen Jekot M.D.; the devoted grandfather
2of Ryan, Katie, Michael, Maya Joy, Emma, and Daniel; and the
3caring uncle of many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Edward Jekot M.D. and extend our sincere condolences to his
7family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Dr. Jekot as an expression of our
11deepest sympathy.
