SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Bruce Gilbert Dobbins of Erie, who passed away on April 2, 2017 at the age of 90; and

WHEREAS, Bruce Dobbins was a United States Army veteran and served during World War II as a Corporal in the Signal Corps; he was married to Darlene Hamilton for six years; he married Dorothy I. Shepherd in 1963 and they were married for 53 years; and

WHEREAS, Bruce Dobbins was a tree trimmer, lumberjack, and surveyor; he sold Wausau Homes for 20 years and worked at General Electric for 28 years; and

WHEREAS, Bruce Dobbins was a member of the Denton-Schreiner American Legion in Erie for more than 50 years; he enjoyed traveling and nature; and

WHEREAS, Bruce Dobbins was preceded in death by his siblings, Maynard Lovejoy, Dale Lovejoy, and Roberta Lovejoy; and a grandson, Joey Davidson; and

WHEREAS, Bruce Dobbins is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his children, Kevin (Lyn) Dobbins, Dawn (Christopher) Pastick, Bruce (Toni) Davidson Dobbins, Brenda (Marty) Clevenger, and Brian (Kelly) Dobbins; his grandchildren, Nick (Libby) Dobbins, Luke Dobbins (fiancee, Jaime LaCoursier), Nathan (Samantha) Pastick, Jessica Pastick, and Josh and Amber Davidson, Dallas, Jordan, Jessie, Corinne Clevenger, and Fox Dobbins; and his great-grandchildren, Sam, Emma, Aaliyah, Myles, and Drew; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Bruce Gilbert Dobbins, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Bruce Dobbins as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
