SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of T.L. Arends of Bartlett, who passed away
4on April 11, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, T.L. Arends was a career banker and very active in
6her community; she served on the Village Board since 1991,
7after spending a decade on the Bartlett Park District Board of
8Commissioners; and
 
9    WHEREAS, T.L. Arends was the Chairman of the Unit Salvation
10Army from 1982 to 2009, President of the Bartlett Chamber of
11Commerce in 1984, President of the Bartlett Park District Board
12and the Bartlett Economic Development Commission in 1986; she
13served on the Bartlett Zoning Board of Appeals in 1987, and was
14the first female member of the Bartlett Lions Club from 1987 to
15the present; she was President of the Elgin High PTO in 1990,
16co-chairperson of the Bartlett Centennial and the Bartlett
17Living Legend in 1991, founder and first Chairperson of the
18Bartlett Fourth of July Committee from 1993 to 1994, and a
19member of the Bartlett Veterans Memorial Foundation Board from
202006 to 2009; she was a member of the Bartlett Rotary from 2007
21to the present, serving as President in 2009; she was the
22Bartlett Village Trustee from 1991 to the present, and on the
23Foundation Board at Elgin Community College, and was part of

1many other organizations; and
 
2    WHEREAS, T.L. Arends was always there for the Village of
3Bartlett, helping whenever needed without taking credit or
4seeking the spotlight; she was honored with a plaque in the
5town center recognizing her achievements and dedication to
6service; and
 
7    WHEREAS, T.L. Arends was preceded in death by her siblings,
8Stuart S.(Shelley) Stone, Rocky (Linda) Stone, and Kay Haas;
9and
 
10    WHEREAS, T.L. Arends is survived by her husband, Thomas;
11her children, Scott (Kristin) Sumner, and Kristina (Bill)
12Gabrenya; five grandchildren, Lucinda Katherine, Ellen
13Virginia, Graham Hubert, Grace Stone, and Lucas Liam; and her
14sisters, Carole (Gilbert) Baumann, Jan (Harold) Sanderson;
15therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
18T.L. Arends, and extend our sincere condolences to her family,
19friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of T.L. Arends as an expression of our
