SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Raymond E. "Ray" Bucher of Godfrey, who passed away on April 11, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Bucher was born in Cairo to Aloysius C. "Dutch" and Ruby (Copeland) Bucher on January 22, 1928; he was a Corporal with the United States Army and served in Japan during the Korean War; he married Sherry Greathouse on October 14, 1950; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Bucher owned and operated Bucher Glass Co. Inc. until he retired in 1993; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Bucher was a former member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville; he belonged to the Godfrey Knights of Columbus and was a 20-year member of the New Horizons Band; he loved hunting, fishing, and was the founding board member of the Godfrey Sportsman's Club in Pleasant Hill; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Bucher was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jon Bucher; his brother, Donald "Diz" Bucher; and his sister, Mary Kay "Kacky" Booher; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Bucher is survived by his wife of 66 years, Sherry; his children, Mike (Jan) Bucher, Ed Bucher, Linda (Brad) Wheaton, Carol (Pat) Kerwin, Mari (Paul) Fahrendorf, and Anne (Ted) Palles; his 22 grandchildren; and his brother, Robert (Josephine) Bucher; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Raymond E. "Ray" Bucher, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Raymond Bucher as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
