SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Larry J. Seaver of Harvard, who passed
4away on December 12, 2016 at the age of 73; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Larry Seaver was born in Harvard to Charles A. and
6Beverly J. (Goodsell) Seaver on January 5, 1943; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Larry Seaver was a 1961 graduate of Harvard High
8School; he worked in tool and die for years at Badger Marine in
9Harvard; he then began a career designing and making musical
10instruments at The Getzen Company; while working with Getzen,
11he designed for and collaborated with legendary musicians like
12Doc Severinsen, Chicago, The Canadian Brass, Snooky Young,
13Maynard Ferguson, and Wynton Marsalis; he put his personal
14touch on musical instruments used by professional and amateur
15musicians alike; after Getzen, he worked for Schilke Music
16Products until his retirement; he engineered many parts for
17instruments that revolutionized the brass industry to this day;
18after retirement, Larry stayed busy working part-time at
19Westside Machine and Tool Co. in Elkhorn, Wisconsin; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Larry Seaver was a member of the NRA and the North
21Bristol Sportsman's Club; he enjoyed going to the shooting
22range with his children and friends; he was also a gunsmith; he

1reveled in many other outdoor activities including sports car
2racing, camping, and golfing with his children; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Larry Seaver was preceded in death by his parents,
4Charles and Beverly, and his brother, James M. Seaver; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Larry Seaver is survived by his children, Douglas
6(Emily Mills) Seaver, Michael (Jonathan Puls) Seaver, and
7Nicole Seaver; his niece, Joey (Michael Dobbs) Seaver; his
8grandchildren, Jessica Leverich and Jameson Seaver; his
9great-niece and great-nephew, Stevie Dobbs and Mike Dobbs;
10therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
13family and friends, mourn the passing of Larry J. Seaver, and
14extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all
15who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Larry Seaver as an expression of our
18deepest sympathy.
