SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Chester M. Iwan of Winthrop Harbor, who passed away on April 18, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Chester Iwan was born in Waukegan to Frank and Lillian (March) Iwan on June 8, 1947; he served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1965 to 1968 and did two tours of duty in the Vietnam War; and

WHEREAS, Chester Iwan worked for the Lake County Sheriff's Office from 1968 to 1997; he held the rank of Lieutenant and was appointed Deputy Chief of the Criminal Investigation Division; and

WHEREAS, Chester Iwan was a member of the Polish Legion of American Veterans, the VFW, and the Fraternal Order of Police; and

WHEREAS, Chester Iwan was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Chester Iwan is survived by his wife, Rebecca (Day) Iwan; his pet, Baxter; his brothers, Henry (Barbara) Iwan, and Stanley (Lenore) Iwan; his sister-in-law, Judi Czech, and many nieces, nephews, and friends in Lake County and Sarasota, Florida; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Chester M. Iwan, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Chester Iwan as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
