SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Jeanette S. Broughton of Woodstock, who
4passed away on December 20, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jeanette Broughton was born in Chicago to Richard
6and Arlene (Bober) Skiera on July 9, 1947; she graduated from
7the University of Illinois in Chicago with a degree in
8psychology and married Gordon Broughton in Norwood Park on
9December 8, 1973; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Jeanette Broughton worked at the University of
11Illinois in Chicago as a Credentials Analyst and then for a
12time as a Lab Technician; she went on to become a police
13officer for the City of Woodstock, and then a school bus driver
14for District 200; she later worked part-time at Osco; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Jeanette Broughton was active for over 25 years
16with the McHenry County Home and Community Education
17organization, serving as a board member for over 10 years; she
18was an avid quilter and enjoyed riding on motorcycles with her
19husband; she loved living in the country, farming and raising
20animals; she was a devout Catholic and served for many years in
21the children's ministry; and

1    WHEREAS, Jeanette Broughton was preceded in death by her
2parents; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Jeanette Broughton is survived by her husband of
443 years, Gordon; her children, Allen (Chandra) Broughton,
5Kathleen Broughton, Daniel Broughton, and Edward Broughton;
6her grandchildren, Vincent and Vivian; her siblings, Dorothy
7Skiera, Lois (Michael) Zucek, Richard Skiera, Arlene (Ted)
8Wiskow, and William (Kathy) Skiera; and several nieces,
9nephews, and very dear friends; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Jeanette S. Broughton, and extend our sincere condolences to
13her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Jeanette Broughton as an expression
17of our deepest sympathy.
