SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of David Grant Brasmer of Rock Island, who
4passed away on April 21, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, David Brasmer was born in Galesburg to Hobart L.
6and Edith P. Miner Babbitt on April 23, 1922; Hobart Babbitt
7was killed in a railroad yard accident that same year; he
8became the son of Henry Brasmer in 1930 and Henry was the only
9father he knew and dearly loved; he served in the United States
10Navy during World War II and married Dorothy Flodeen on May 17,
111946; and
 
12    WHEREAS, David Brasmer was a quality inspector for John
13Deere Harvester Works and retired in 1983 after 41 years; and
 
14    WHEREAS, David Brasmer was a longtime member of the Moline
15Gospel Temple, the Westside Assembly of God in Davenport, and
16the Bible Holiness Church in East Moline; he enjoyed playing
17golf and was a well-known Moline High School athlete in his
18youth; he enjoyed the Chicago Cubs, fishing, traveling,
19puzzles, and riding his Goldwing Trike; and
 
20    WHEREAS, David Brasmer was preceded in death by his wife of
2161 years, Dorothy; and

1    WHEREAS, David Brasmer is survived by his son, John D.
2(Connie) Brasmer; his granddaughters, Johnna Kay (Alan)
3Gustafson, Diana (Jim) Polton, and Bobby Jo Brasmer; his
4grandson, Shane Brasmer; four great-grandchildren; his former
5daughter-in-law, Kay Churchill and her daughter, Abby Tracy;
6therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9David Grant Brasmer, and extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of David Brasmer as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
