SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of David Grant Brasmer of Rock Island, who passed away on April 21, 2017; and

WHEREAS, David Brasmer was born in Galesburg to Hobart L. and Edith P. Miner Babbitt on April 23, 1922; Hobart Babbitt was killed in a railroad yard accident that same year; he became the son of Henry Brasmer in 1930 and Henry was the only father he knew and dearly loved; he served in the United States Navy during World War II and married Dorothy Flodeen on May 17, 1946; and

WHEREAS, David Brasmer was a quality inspector for John Deere Harvester Works and retired in 1983 after 41 years; and

WHEREAS, David Brasmer was a longtime member of the Moline Gospel Temple, the Westside Assembly of God in Davenport, and the Bible Holiness Church in East Moline; he enjoyed playing golf and was a well-known Moline High School athlete in his youth; he enjoyed the Chicago Cubs, fishing, traveling, puzzles, and riding his Goldwing Trike; and

WHEREAS, David Brasmer was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy; and

WHEREAS, David Brasmer is survived by his son, John D. (Connie) Brasmer; his granddaughters, Johnna Kay (Alan) Gustafson, Diana (Jim) Polton, and Bobby Jo Brasmer; his grandson, Shane Brasmer; four great-grandchildren; his former daughter-in-law, Kay Churchill and her daughter, Abby Tracy; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of David Grant Brasmer, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of David Brasmer as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
