SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Eugene Seaver of Ringwood, formerly of Wonder Lake, who passed away on December 19, 2016 at the age of 81; and

WHEREAS, Eugene Seaver was born to Russell and Emily Seaver on August 10, 1935; he married Patricia Thilken at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on January 28, 1956; and

WHEREAS, Eugene Seaver joined the United States Army in 1955 and worked in the Chemical Corp.; Pat joined him while he was stationed in England and Germany; after being discharged in 1958, they moved back to Milwaukee, Wisconsin and then later to Wonder Lake; and

WHEREAS, Eugene Seaver was the owner of Mohawk Refrigeration and Eagle Sales for over 35 years; he enjoyed volunteering in various ministries; he was a Boy Scout and Cub Scout leader, a CCD teacher, a Stephens Minister, a RCIA sponsor, and an active member of the Hispanic Ministry at The Church of Holy Apostles; he was also involved in many retreats at the Villa; and

WHEREAS, Eugene Seaver lived his faith with his repeated missionary work in Haiti, Africa, and Slovakia; he loved to travel and meet people of all countries; and

WHEREAS, Eugene Seaver loved adventure, whether it was sledding, canoeing, hiking, or trying to surf in Hawaii; he will be remembered for his quiet and gentle understanding of people and he leaves a legacy of love and compassion; he was a brother in life and death to the Tamargo and Del Portillo families, who fled Cuba in the early 1960s; and

WHEREAS, Eugene Seaver was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Patricia Seaver; his son, Joe Seaver; his daughter, Mary Welzen; his grandson, Jeremy Ackerman; and his brother-in-law, Dick Thilken; and

WHEREAS, Eugene Seaver is survived by his children, Anne Seaver, Cathy (Brian) Ackerman, Paul Seaver, John (Michelle) Seaver, and Therese (Buddy) Matthys; his son-in-law, Robert Welzen; his 20 grandchildren, Robert Jr. and Mary Catherine Welzen, Jenna Seaver, Melissa, Nicholas, Zachary, and Kelly Ackerman, Ashley, Matthew, Allix, and Abigail Seaver, Mark, Ethan, Emily, and Nicole Seaver, Brooke, Courtney, Lucas, Michaela, and Noah Matthys; his four great-grandchildren, Marcus and Rowan Seaver, and Brooklyn and Dylan Ackerman; his sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Thilken; his five nieces and nephews, Bill (Tammy), Mike, Terry, Ed, and Colette Thilken; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Eugene Seaver, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Eugene Seaver as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
