SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of William James "Billy" Hansen of Chicago, who passed away on February 3, 2017; and

WHEREAS, William Hansen was born on September 20, 1966; as a child, he enjoyed being outside, playing football, basketball, fast-pitch softball, and attending Kellogg Day Camp; and

WHEREAS, William Hansen attended Christ the King School and graduated from St. Ignatius College Prep in 1984; he attended Loras College and finished at Benedictine University and married Aniela "Nell" in 1994; and

WHEREAS, William Hansen spent his life working in the insurance industry, where his wit and intellect kept colleagues and friends on their toes; and

WHEREAS, William Hansen and his family moved to Kansas City in 2003 and Dallas in 2014 before returning to Chicago; and

WHEREAS, William Hansen relished coaching his son's baseball games and attending his daughter's basketball games; he was an avid fan of the Chicago White Sox and Blackhawks; and

WHEREAS, William Hansen loved arriving early for family parties to cook and help get everything ready; he enjoyed sharing his famous chili and having family time at Long Beach; and

WHEREAS, William Hansen, despite his personal struggles, displayed incredible strength over the last 18 months of his life, helping others learn patience and working to regain his health with the goal of spending more time with his children; and

WHEREAS, William Hansen was a loving and adoring father to Aidan Taylor Hansen, Alexandria Grace, and her late baby twin sister, Samantha Lee Hansen; he is survived by their mother, Aniela; he was the beloved son of Kathleen "Kay" (Prindiville) and Leroy R. Hansen; the dear brother of Kelly (Dennis) Gilroy, Julie (Francis) Burns, Christopher (Sheila Manning), and Catherine (Jeffry) Bross; the fond uncle of Courtney (Bryan) Merrigan, Zack, Moira, and Hannah Gilroy, Kathleen, Martin, and Julia Burns, Matthew, Brian, and Joseph Hansen, and Anna, Timothy, and James Bross; the fond nephew to Robert (Joy) Kuchler, Robert (Carol) Hansen, James (the late Muriel) Prindiville, and Michael (Mary) Prindiville; he was dearly loved by many cousins and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of William James "Billy" Hansen, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of William Hansen as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
