SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of William D. "Bill" Gibbons Jr. of Silvis, who passed away on April 27, 2017; and

WHEREAS, William Gibbons was born in Beaman, Iowa to William David Sr. and Helen Jane Blow Gibbons on December 9, 1920; he served in the United States Army during World War II; he graduated with a mechanical engineering degree from Iowa State University in 1947 and married Gail Barbara Aspel in Riceville, Iowa on September 13, 1947; and

WHEREAS, William Gibbons worked for International Harvester as the manager of manufacturing engineering at the East Moline Works and retired after 37 years of service in 1984; and

WHEREAS, William Gibbons was preceded in death by his wife, Gail and his brother, Donald Gibbons Sr.; and

WHEREAS, William Gibbons is survived by his children, Barbara (Tom) Cavanaugh, Marcia (Jim Bolton) Gibbons, William III (Pam) Gibbons, and Jon (Lucy Junus) Gibbons; his grandchildren, Christopher (Jennifer) Zelnio, Erin Zelnio, Matthew (Juliane Nguyen) Bolton, Brady Bolton, Jessica (Ryan) Haugo, and Danielle (Stephen) West; his great-grandchild, Sawyer Haugo; and his sister, Janice Johnson; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of William D. "Bill" Gibbons Jr., and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of William Gibbons as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
