SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Mary Frances Kuryliw of DeKalb, who
4passed away on April 17, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mary Kuryliw was born in Fairfax, Missouri to
6Herbert and Margaret (Brim) Stoner on December 24, 1936; she
7moved to Harvard in 1941 and graduated from Harvard High
8School; she married Walter Kuryliw in Fairfax, Missouri on June
923, 1956; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Mary Kuryliw worked for a local dentist for 11
11years; she later worked as a secretary for the Harvard School
12District from 1978 until her retirement in 2002; and
 
13    WHEREAS, From the age of five, Mary Kuryliw was a member of
14the First United Methodist Church in Harvard where she taught
15Sunday school, was a youth group leader, and became known as
16"Ma"; she enjoyed doing crafts, sewing, scrapbooking,
17quilting, and spending time with her family; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Mary Kuryliw was preceded in death by her husband,
19Walter; her parents; and her siblings, Gary (Barbara), Betty
20Ann (William), and Donald Gene; and

1    WHEREAS, Mary Kuryliw is survived by her children, Cynthia
2(Michael) Poelking, Chester (Renee) Kuryliw, and Herbert
3(Wendy) Kuryliw; her grandchildren, Matthew (Megan) Poelking,
4Kevin (Caitlin) Poelking, Michelle (Jackson) Govatos, Andrew
5(Jacky) Kuryliw, Jennifer and Amy Kuryliw, Justin (Justine)
6Kuryliw, and Jared Kuryliw (Maeva Demers); therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Mary Frances Kuryliw, and extend our sincere condolences to her
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Mary Kuryliw as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
