SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Hans Chrestian Petersen of McHenry, who
4passed away on May 3, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Hans Petersen was born to Bennet and Martha
6(Nielsen) Petersen on November 29, 1923 and raised on a dairy
7farm in Wisconsin; he served in the United States Army Air
8Force during World War II and moved to Chicago where he met his
9wife, Nancy; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Hans Petersen was hardworking, having two
11careers; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Hans Petersen was known as a quiet, gentle giant;
13there was not a person who met him that did not like him; he was
14a "champion whistler", often whistling to the tune of "Sweet
15Georgia Brown"; he enjoyed listening to HAM Radio, fishing,
16gardening, and racing; he will be remembered as everyone's
17friend and will be sorely missed by all who knew him; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Hans Petersen was preceded in death by his
19parents; his loving wife, Nancy; his siblings, James and
20Marion; and his granddaughter, Megan; and

1    WHEREAS, Hans Petersen is survived by his children, Bennet
2(Nancy) Petersen, Bryan Petersen, and Shari (Alan Gegenheimer)
3Olk; his grandchildren, Carey (Justin) Runyard, Lindsay (Guy)
4Porth, Aimee (Jason) Landini, Alexander (Amy) Petersen, Troy
5(Kim) Petersen, Jennifer (Chad) Chorney, Gregory Petersen,
6Bennet Petersen, Katlyn (James) Ceplawskes, and Ashley Olk; his
7great-grandchildren, Austin, Nathan, Hannah, Violet, Lane,
8Sullivan, Alexis, Ethan, Owen, Emilee, Aksel, Haylie, Hayden,
9Aaron, Kaitlyn, MacKenzie, Azure, Ana, Aydin, and Leila; and
10his sister, Else Petersen; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Hans Chrestian Petersen, and extend our sincere condolences to
14his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Hans Petersen as an expression of
18our deepest sympathy.
