SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Helen "Jean" McPartlin, who passed away on May 8, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Helen McPartlin was born in Joliet to Floyd and Helen Garrett on June 5, 1926 and grew up in Ingalls Park; she graduated from Joliet Township High School in 1944 and resided in the Cherry Hill subdivision for 57 years; and

WHEREAS, Helen McPartlin was happy to be a homemaker and stay at home mom, though she was rarely at home; she was the taxi driver for all the kids' activities and a Scout Leader for 17 years; she was an "official bleacher sitter" for her kids and grandkids sports and loved taking them skating and sledding; and

WHEREAS, Helen McPartlin loved hosting celebrations and was never happier than when surrounded by family and friends; she was affectionately known as "Grandma Mac" and "GG"; and

WHEREAS, Helen McPartlin was a great cook; she loved to make bread, bake pies, and create holiday chocolate candies, a McPartlin family tradition; she played tennis into her mid 70s, and loved her flowers and vegetable garden, canning and freezing the bounty; she played pinochle with the card club from high school and spent Sunday nights with the family; and

WHEREAS, Helen McPartlin was a member of the Council of Catholic Women at St. Jude's Church in New Lenox and was an active parish member; and

WHEREAS, Helen McPartlin was preceded in death by her husband, Art; and

WHEREAS, Helen McPartlin is survived by her children, Ken (Julie), Penny (Dave) Newkirk, Dennis (Marlene), Brian (Kathy), Tim (Amie), Tom (Dean), and Tina; her grandchildren, Richard (Stephanie) McPartlin, Happy (Brad) Nacht, Bradley (Cara) Newkirk, Randal (Amy) Newkirk, Craig (Lana) McPartlin, Todd (Isabel) McPartlin, Alicia (Greg) Gonda, Amber (Nick) Meyer, Marissa (Rogelio) Alvarado, Chelsea McPartlin, Kim (Dylan) Carr, Richard Boisclair, Andrew (Natasha) McPartlin, Tracey (Rich) Zaleski, Ian (Christine) McPartlin, Matthew (Jamie) McPartlin, and Daniel (Sue) McPartlin; and her 29 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Helen "Jean" McPartlin, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Helen McPartlin as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
