SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Daniel C. Manning of Taylor Ridge, who
4passed away on March 21, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Daniel Manning was born in Chicago to Delbert and
6Rosella Little Manning on August 13, 1940; he served in the
7United States Navy; he earned his bachelor's degree from Coe
8College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and pursued his Master of Arts
9and Education Specialist degrees at the University of Northern
10Iowa; he married Carolyn "Terry" Lahue in Walker, Iowa on
11November 20, 1965; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Daniel Manning worked as a teacher at Urbana
13Consolidated High School in Urbana, Iowa from 1966 to 1969; he
14worked at Linn-Mar High School in Marion, Iowa from 1970 to
151971 and Bettendorf Middle School in Bettendorf, Iowa from 1972
16to 2000; while teaching in Bettendorf, he coached boy's and
17girl's tennis at Pleasant Valley High School; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Daniel Manning greatly enjoyed spending time with
19his children and grandchildren and loved teaching and coaching;
20he volunteered for activities for many years at Genesis
21Hospital and as a volunteer driver for the American Cancer
22Society; he liked hiking, biking, and playing tennis and was a

1member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Andalusia; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Daniel Manning was preceded in death by his
3parents, and two nephews, Leon and Kenneth Jurgens; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Daniel Manning is survived by his wife of 51
5years, Terry; his children, Maria (James) Copeland, Tina
6(Christopher) Hartley, and Travis (Bruce) Broughton; his
7grandchildren, Chelsea (Andrew) Edmark, Nicholas Browne, Kara
8Hartley, and Samantha Copeland; his siblings, Dorelaine
9(Stuart) Bushong, John Manning, Richard (Judy) Manning, and
10Mary Jane (LaVern) Jurgens; his mother-in-law, Betty Lahue; and
11many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Daniel C. Manning, and extend our sincere condolences to his
15family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Daniel Manning as an expression of
19our deepest sympathy.
