SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert Glen Lamphere of Bull Valley, who passed away on May 19, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Robert Lamphere was born in Geneva to Marian and Glen Lamphere on December 15, 1931; he attended Geneva High School, where he was an all-state athlete in football, basketball, and track; he attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison on a football scholarship, where he was a member of the 1953 Rose Bowl team and graduated with a degree in English in 1954; after graduation, he served as an officer in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War; and

WHEREAS, Robert Lamphere started his career at Van Vlissingen and Company as a commercial real estate broker, rising to the title of chairman; for over 50 years, he was a highly respected leader in the Chicago-area commercial real estate brokerage, development, and management community; his developments included the Oak Forest Industrial Park, the Palatine Expressway Industrial Park, the Northgate Industrial Center in Wheeling and in partnership with his son, Chuck Lamphere, the development of Lincolnshire Corporate Center, The Corporate Grove, and The Corporate Woods in Southern Lake County; he served as president of the Chicago Chapter of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors and was a board member of NAIOP, the commercial real estate development association; and

WHEREAS, Robert Lamphere was a lifelong reader, dog lover, landscape designer, avid golfer, and founding member of the Bull Valley Golf Club; he was a proud alumnus and active supporter of the University of Wisconsin Athletic Department and the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine; and

WHEREAS, Robert Lamphere was preceded in death by his brother, Donald (Jacquelyn) Lamphere; and

WHEREAS, Robert Lamphere is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Nanette Obriot Lamphere; his children, Chuck (Sarah) Lamphere and Vicki (John) Burchard; his grandchildren, Gordon, Duncan and Malcolm Lamphere, and Elise Burchard; his half-sister, Laura Lee Leff; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Robert Glen Lamphere, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert Lamphere as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
