SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Robert Glen Lamphere of Bull Valley, who
4passed away on May 19, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Robert Lamphere was born in Geneva to Marian and
6Glen Lamphere on December 15, 1931; he attended Geneva High
7School, where he was an all-state athlete in football,
8basketball, and track; he attended the University of
9Wisconsin-Madison on a football scholarship, where he was a
10member of the 1953 Rose Bowl team and graduated with a degree
11in English in 1954; after graduation, he served as an officer
12in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Robert Lamphere started his career at Van
14Vlissingen and Company as a commercial real estate broker,
15rising to the title of chairman; for over 50 years, he was a
16highly respected leader in the Chicago-area commercial real
17estate brokerage, development, and management community; his
18developments included the Oak Forest Industrial Park, the
19Palatine Expressway Industrial Park, the Northgate Industrial
20Center in Wheeling and in partnership with his son, Chuck
21Lamphere, the development of Lincolnshire Corporate Center,
22The Corporate Grove, and The Corporate Woods in Southern Lake
23County; he served as president of the Chicago Chapter of the

1Society of Industrial and Office Realtors and was a board
2member of NAIOP, the commercial real estate development
3association; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Robert Lamphere was a lifelong reader, dog lover,
5landscape designer, avid golfer, and founding member of the
6Bull Valley Golf Club; he was a proud alumnus and active
7supporter of the University of Wisconsin Athletic Department
8and the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine;
9and
 
10    WHEREAS, Robert Lamphere was preceded in death by his
11brother, Donald (Jacquelyn) Lamphere; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Robert Lamphere is survived by his loving wife of
1328 years, Nanette Obriot Lamphere; his children, Chuck (Sarah)
14Lamphere and Vicki (John) Burchard; his grandchildren, Gordon,
15Duncan and Malcolm Lamphere, and Elise Burchard; his
16half-sister, Laura Lee Leff; and many nieces and nephews;
17therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
20Robert Glen Lamphere, and extend our sincere condolences to his
21family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
