SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Earl E. Pope of Huntley, who passed away on June 4, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Earl Pope was born in Chicago to Andrew and Fernie (Hempel) Pope on November 27, 1924; he graduated from Waller High School in Chicago and served in the United States Army Air Corps in the South Pacific during World War II; and

WHEREAS, After the war, Earl Pope attended Wright Junior College; he married Geraldine M. Mack on March 25, 1950 and they made their home in Bellwood and then Elmhurst, where they raised their family and stayed for 45 years; and

WHEREAS, Earl Pope worked at the W.W. Grainger Company for almost 40 years, retiring in 1993; and

WHEREAS, Earl Pope enjoyed brass band music and traveling, especially to England; he was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Blackhawks; and

WHEREAS, Earl Pope is survived by his wife of 67 years, Geraldine "Gerry"; his sons, Gary (Linda) Pope and Gregg (Elizabeth) Pope; his grandchildren, Brian, Jeffrey (Catherine), Lauren, Brett, and Rachel; and several nieces and nephews, including, Denise Youngberg-Wrath; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Earl E. Pope, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Earl Pope as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
