SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Earl E. Pope of Huntley, who passed away
4on June 4, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Earl Pope was born in Chicago to Andrew and Fernie
6(Hempel) Pope on November 27, 1924; he graduated from Waller
7High School in Chicago and served in the United States Army Air
8Corps in the South Pacific during World War II; and
 
9    WHEREAS, After the war, Earl Pope attended Wright Junior
10College; he married Geraldine M. Mack on March 25, 1950 and
11they made their home in Bellwood and then Elmhurst, where they
12raised their family and stayed for 45 years; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Earl Pope worked at the W.W. Grainger Company for
14almost 40 years, retiring in 1993; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Earl Pope enjoyed brass band music and traveling,
16especially to England; he was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs
17and Blackhawks; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Earl Pope is survived by his wife of 67 years,
19Geraldine "Gerry"; his sons, Gary (Linda) Pope and Gregg
20(Elizabeth) Pope; his grandchildren, Brian, Jeffrey

1(Catherine), Lauren, Brett, and Rachel; and several nieces and
2nephews, including, Denise Youngberg-Wrath; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
5Earl E. Pope, and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
6friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to the family of Earl Pope as an expression of our
9deepest sympathy.
