SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Carol F. Lindsay Fraser of Highland Park,
4who passed away on June 13, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Carol Fraser was born in Port Huron, Michigan to
6Wilbur "James" and Frances "Louise" Lindsay on September 30,
71938; she was a proud member of the Romeo High School band,
8where she made many of her lifelong friends; she graduated with
9honors from Eastern Michigan University, earning her Bachelor
10of Arts and Master of Arts in English in 1967; she was elected
11to both Lambda Iota Tau National English Fraternity and Kappa
12Delta Pi National Educational Fraternity; she married Donald
13Bruce Fraser at Utica Methodist Church on August 13, 1960; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Carol Fraser taught English as an adjunct
15professor at Schoolcraft College in Michigan for 24 years; she
16also taught at both St. Clair County Community College and
17Baker College in Michigan; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Carol Fraser was active in the community, serving
19on the National Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and as a
20deacon of Rosedale Gardens Presbyterian Church; she remained
21very active in retirement, volunteering at Mercy Hospital and
22Medical Center in Chicago and serving as recording secretary of

1the volunteer board; she was an elder and clerk of session at
2Lakeshore Presbyterian Church and was also an enthusiastic
3member of the local Port Huron Red Hatters and Port Huron
4Musicale; she moved to Illinois in 2013 to be near her children
5and grandchildren; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Carol Fraser enjoyed reading, playing bridge, and
7traveling, especially to the British Isles; most of all, she
8enjoyed spending time with family and friends; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Carol Fraser was preceded in death by her husband
10of 39 years, Donald; her parents; her sister, Jane Appleman;
11her great-niece, Cheryl Louise; her grandparents; and many
12aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Carol Fraser is survived by her daughter, Pat
14Fraser; her son, John Fraser; her daughter-in-law, Susan
15Fraser; her grandchildren, Lindsay Fraser, Robert Fraser, and
16Molly Fraser; her brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Shara
17Lindsay; her nephews, Tom Appleman, Rick Appleman, James
18Appleman, and Scott Lindsay; her nieces, Susy Flessner and
19Shara Anne Lindsay; her uncle, Tony and Aunt Beth Galen; and
20many dear cousins, extended family, and close friends;
21therefore, be it
 
22    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL

1ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
2Carol F. Lindsay Fraser, and extend our sincere condolences to
3her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
4further
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6presented to the family of Carol Fraser as an expression of our
7deepest sympathy.
