SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Donald James Ruemelin of Richmond, who
4passed away on June 12, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Donald Ruemelin was born in Chicago to Arthur C.
6and Eleanor (Klett) Ruemelin on July 10, 1927; he attended St.
7Julianna and St. George high schools; he graduated in 1945 and
8served his country in the United States Army from 1945 to 1947
9in the 533rd Tank Division; he earned the Victory Medal and the
10Army of Occupation Medal Germany; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Donald Ruemelin moved to Richmond in 1972 and
12established Hilltop Farm; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Donald Ruemelin was a lifetime member of VFW Post
144600, serving as commander for four years; he was also a member
15of the American Legion, The Men of Brass, and The Red Devils
16Drum and Bugle Corp; he was either marching in a parade or was
17driving the Fireball 8 plus 1; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Donald Ruemelin enjoyed his horses and delivering
19black dirt and gravel; even on the hottest days of summer, he
20was driving his tractor and bailing hay; and

1    WHEREAS, Donald Ruemelin was preceded in death by his
2parents; an infant brother, Arthur; his sisters, Doris (Wetzel)
3and MaryJean (Hauck); and his sons, Robert S. and Micheal G.
4Ruemelin; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Donald Ruemelin is survived by his wife of almost
660 years, Patricia (Stoller); his daughters, Kathy Ruemelin and
7Susan (Greg) Houston; his daughter-in-law, Lynn Ruemelin; his
8grandchildren, Michael (Jodi) Ruemelin, Gina (Joe) Frano,
9James (Jenn) Houston, Jesse Houston, Cody Ruemelin, Ethan
10Houston, and Katie (Larry Kranz) Houston; and his
11great-grandchildren, Mikey Ruemelin, Joey and Ben Frano,
12Connor and Maddie Houston, and Levi, Ivan, and Zeke Kranz;
13therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Donald James Ruemelin, and extend our sincere condolences to
17his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
18further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Donald Ruemelin as an expression of
21our deepest sympathy.
