SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Charlene S. Reichert, who passed away on February 25, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Charlene Reichert was born in Woodstock to Edwin F. and Eleanore (Rankin) Reid on May 19, 1948; she attended St. Patrick's School and graduated from McHenry Community High School in 1966; she married Thomas Reichert at St. Patrick Church in McHenry on May 5, 1973; and

WHEREAS, Charlene Reichert worked at The McHenry Plaindealer, setting type, and at the McHenry Medical Group, transcribing medical dictation; she also worked in clerical and administrative positions at Fifth Army Headquarters at Fort Sheridan, Great Lakes Naval Training Base in North Chicago, and USPFO Camp in San Luis Obispo, California; other than a couple of years spent in Texas, she and her family lived in San Diego, San Luis Obispo, and Carlsbad, California; and

WHEREAS, Charlene Reichert was a member of the Viscounts Drum & Bugle Corps and McHenry American Legion Auxiliary Post 491; she was a fabulous cook and loved to entertain family and friends in her home; she also loved to travel, visiting nearly all 50 states, including Alaska and Hawaii; her travels also took her to England, Ireland, Scotland, France, Italy, Norway, Switzerland, Germany, China, Canada, and Mexico; the last three years, she was full-time "Meema" to her adorable granddaughter, Fiona; and

WHEREAS, Charlene Reichert was preceded in death by her parents; and

WHEREAS, Charlene Reichert is survived by her husband, Thomas; her children, Brittany Reichert, Shannon (Josh) Salic, and Trae Reichert; her grandchildren, Fiona and Landon; her siblings, Bud (Vikee) Reid, Bernadine (Michael) Mould, Ronald Reid, Cindy (Reid) Bateman, and Noelle (Terry) Reid-Andrews; her foster siblings, Paulo (Daisy) Lopes, Georgia (Evripidis) Panagopolou, and Patricia Harris; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Charlene S. Reichert, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Charlene Reichert as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
