SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Kenneth Allan Megaw of Spring Grove, who
4passed away on June 24, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Kenneth Megaw was born in Mankato, Minnesota to
6Woodrow and Elnora (Olsen) Megaw on January 11, 1939; he
7graduated as the valedictorian from Good Thunder High School in
81956; he served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Sea
9Dragon, the sixth nuclear powered submarine which was uniquely
10designed for operation under the polar ice cap; his commission
11as a sonar operator and technician took him all over the
12Pacific Ocean from Hong Kong to Hawaii, including a mission to
13the polar ice cap where the Sea Dragon became the first
14submarine to surface at the North Pole; he was a resident of
15Spring Grove since 1994; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Kenneth Megaw worked as an electrical engineer and
17was at the forefront of network communications; he retired from
18CCH Computax in 2004 after working over 40 years in the field;
19and
 
20    WHEREAS, Kenneth Megaw and his brothers grew up with a
21shared passion for all things automotive, from going to NASCAR
22races with his brother, Gary, to watching his godson, Ryan,

1race on the AMA circuit; he built a dune buggy, restored a 66'
2Ford Mustang and a family inherited 49' Ford farm truck; he had
3a great love of country music and the films of Clint Eastwood;
4and
 
5    WHEREAS, Kenneth Megaw was preceded in death by his parents
6and an infant son, baby Megaw; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Kenneth Megaw is survived by his wife, Karen; his
8sons, Shawn (Dana) Megaw and Scott Megaw; his grandchildren,
9Elizabeth and Maxwell Megaw; his brothers, Donald (Mary) Megaw
10and Gary (RaVae) Megaw; and many nieces and nephews; therefore,
11be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Kenneth Allan Megaw, and extend our sincere condolences to his
15family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Kenneth Megaw as an expression of
19our deepest sympathy.
