SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of William R. "Bill" Schmidt of McHenry, who passed away on July 1, 2017; and

WHEREAS, William Schmidt was born in Elgin to John and Gertrude (Homeyer) Schmidt on January 11, 1955; he served as a sergeant in the United States Marines Corps during the Vietnam War; he married Julie Carpenter on February 16, 1980; and

WHEREAS, William Schmidt was a former employee of the Village of Vernon Hills; and

WHEREAS, William Schmidt was a lifetime member of AMVets; he was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed rock and roll music, especially Elvis and Michael Jackson; he loved motorcycles and riding; and

WHEREAS, William Schmidt was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Paul Schmidt; and

WHEREAS, William Schmidt is survived by his wife, Julie; his daughter, Sara (Chris) Hesemann; his son, Michael (Maria) Schmidt; his grandchildren, Laurel, Lucas, and Arianna; his siblings, Lois Bruder, John (Judy) Schmidt, Bob (Madelyn) Schmidt, and Donna Mays; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of William R. "Bill" Schmidt, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of William Schmidt as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
