SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Irene M. Allen of Joliet, who passed away
4on June 18, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Irene Allen was born in Taylor Springs to Andrew
6and Anna (Trusa) Krull on April 5, 1924 and was raised and
7educated in Mazon; she graduated from Coal City High School and
8attended the University of Illinois, where she earned her
9bachelor's degree in 1946; she married Robert B. Allen Jr. in
10Assumption Catholic Church in Coal City on May 4, 1947; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Irene Allen worked for the family business, Allen
12Bottling Company; later in life, she enjoyed employment in
13retail sampling commerce; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Irene Allen was a member of St. Paul the Apostle
15Parish in Joliet, where she participated in the Paulites, and
16over the years was active in the Joliet Catholic Mothers Club,
17TOPS, 4-H, the Joliet Artists League, and the Artists of the
18Greenhouse; she was a talented artist and an accomplished
19seamstress; she took great pleasure in baking and was awarded
20for her Banana Creme Pie; she was proud to have been a finalist
21in the Ms. Illinois Senior Citizens Pageant; and

1    WHEREAS, Irene Allen was preceded in death by her parents;
2her grandson, Joshua Allen; her sister, Mary Ann Newcomb; her
3brother, A. Robert Krull; and her nephew, Andrew Krull; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Irene Allen is survived her husband of 70 years,
5Robert; her children, Robert B. (Sheila) Allen Jr., Larry
6(Laurie) Allen, David (Jacque) Allen, Kathy (Sam) Cindrich,
7Charlie Allen, and Andy Allen; her grandchildren, Bart, Ben,
8Luke, John, Brad, Ryan, Kate, Nate, Jill, Kevin, William,
9Arianna, and Ava; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and
10nephews; and her dear friend and caregiver, Paula Spurgeon;
11therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Irene M. Allen, and extend our sincere condolences to her
15family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Irene Allen as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
