SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Sheldon C. Bell of Plainfield, who passed away on July 13, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Sheldon Bell was born in Oswego to Dr. Sheldon F. and Ellen P. (Lofdahl) Bell on May 2, 1934; he graduated from Oswego High School in 1952 and Northern Illinois University in 1957 with a degree in chemistry; he married Patricia F. Conner on September 8, 1956; and

WHEREAS, Sheldon Bell was president of Coldwell Banker Bell, formerly Bell Realty, which was founded in 1960 by his uncle, James C. Bell; he was president of the Will County Board of Realtors from 1967 to 1968 and was named Illinois Realtor of the Year in 1984; and

WHEREAS, Sheldon Bell served with the First National Bank of Joliet Board of Directors, the Center For Economic Development, and the Joliet Fire and Police Board; and

WHEREAS, Sheldon Bell was a Master Mason at Raven Lodge 303 in Oswego; he was a member of the Scottish Rite - Valley of Chicago, the Shriner at Medinah Temple in Chicago, the Phi Sigma Epsilon Fraternity, and Grace United Methodist Church; he was an avid pilot; and

WHEREAS, Sheldon Bell was preceded in death by his parents and his great-granddaughter, Rose Sherman; and

WHEREAS, Sheldon Bell is survived by his wife, Patricia; his daughters, Kristin (Thomas) Mulvey, Melissa (Lloyd) Meinhart, and Amy (Christopher) Dow; his grandchildren, Dr. Megan (Dr. Darrin) Worthington, Patrick (Marika) Mulvey, Lauren (Alec) Sherman, Conner (Rachel) Meinhart, Matthew Meinhart, and Benjamin and Emily Dow; his great-granddaughters, Grace, Claire, and Molly Worthington, and Eleanor Sherman; his two sisters, Lynn (Frank) Simmons and Justice Rita B. (late Gil) Garman; and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Sheldon C. Bell, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Sheldon Bell as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
