SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Dorothy Constance "Connie" Schofield of Lake Barrington Shores, who passed away on July 6, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Schofield was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to James and Dorothy Henry on March 24, 1936; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Schofield ran for Village of Lake Barrington trustee as a "55-year-old housewife"; she later served as village president, a village trustee, and board member of governmental district and community service organizations; she served as a Lake Barrington trustee from 1991 to 1997 and then as village president from 1997 through 2005; during her tenure as village president, she served on the board of the Barrington Area Council of Governments, serving as chairperson from 1999 to 2000; in addition, she was a director of the board of the Solid Waste Agency of Lake County during the 1990s and was named chair of the 40-member board from 1999 to 2004; she came out of retirement in 2005 to join the board for Barrington Area Council on Aging; in April of 2009, she rejoined Lake Barrington's village board as a trustee, and in total served her community tirelessly for more than 20 years before officially retiring in August of 2016; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Schofield has served on various committees and was known for her very popular donation to BACOA's annual wine tasting auction - 12 dozen homemade Christmas cookies; she was a longtime member of Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church in Mundelein, where she served as a coordinator of Eucharistic Ministers for many years; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Schofield was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Shirley (Ted) Malone; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Schofield is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Thomas E. Schofield Sr.; her children, Kimberley Burns (Pat), Maureen Denison, Jeanne Worden (Scott), and Tom (Michelle); her grandchildren, Mark, Katie, Kevin, Allison (Brad), Kala, Kyle, Tommy, Caroline, Grace, Lauren, Patrick, Nicholas, Annabelle, Elise, and Michael; her great-grandchildren, Kendyl and Jackson; her sisters, Mary Lou (Chuck) Hrach and Suzanne (Austin) Tighe; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Dorothy Constance "Connie" Schofield, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dorothy Schofield as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
